The Open Championship 2023: Dates, Schedule, Tee Time & Where To Watch It On TV

Learn everything about the 2023 Open Championship including starting date, schedule, tee times, and where to watch it on TV.

Let's Get Started

The 151st Open Championship is all set to bring together the world's most renowned male golfers for a battle of their lifetime. Being the final and most loved golfing tournament of the season, the buzz around it is contagious. Will the defending champion, Cameron Smith stun the world with another victory, or will the last year's runner-up, Rory McIlroy take revenge by lifting the trophy? The anticipation is unreal.

If you're an avid golf enthusiast seeking comprehensive information about the 2023 Open Championship, you've arrived at the perfect destination. From the starting date and prize purse to the most favourite golfer for the tournament, this article answers all your questions.

When is The Open Championship 2023 Starting?

The British Open 2023 begins on Thursday, July 20 and will have the final round on Sunday, July 23.

Where Will It Be Held?

One thing we all love about The British Open Championship is its unique venues and stunning golf courses. This year, the Open Championship will be at the prestigious Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

Located at Hoylake, the Royal Liverpool Golf Club is one of the oldest seaside clubs in England. At first glance, this golf course looks quite flat and easy to play, but don't be fooled. Playing shots at Royal Liverpool is incredibly challenging and requires golfers to think twice before swinging their clubs.

In short, only those who bring in their A-game and employ smart tactics will be able to navigate through the Royal Liverpool's golf course successfully and win the 2023 Open Championship.

Open Championship Purse & Prize Money For 2023

The 2023 Open Championship features a lucrative prize pool of $16.5 million (£12.7 million), marking an 18% surge from last year's winnings. The champion of the 151st British Open will claim an impressive $3 million (£2.3 million) prize. The runner-up will receive a substantial reward of $1.7 million (£1.31 million), while the third-place finisher will take home just over $1 million (£774,000).

Who Are The Players To Watch?

Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy, the 2014 British Open winner at Royal Liverpool and the runner-up in the 2022 tournament, is highly anticipated to secure the coveted Claret Jug once again. Rory's exceptional performance throughout the season, coupled with his recent triumph at The Renaissance Club in the Scottish Open just a day before the commencement of the Open, is proof enough that he is ready to dominate the final golf major of 2023.

Scottie Scheffler

The number 1 golfer on the Official World Golf Ranking list has been a favourite through out this season. Scottie Scheffler won the Players Championship in March 2023 and finished amongst the top ten contenders in the Masters, PGA Championship, and US Open.

Jon Rahm

Known for his precise swings and skilful strokes, Jon Rahm is one of the favourite golfers for the 2023 Open Championship. The Master winner is determined to add the prestigious Claret Jug to his collection, and we are excited to watch him play against the top-notch golfers.

Cameron Smith

The reigning Open champion and world number 2, Cameron Smith, is in his top form and has all the confidence he needs to take the Claret Jug home again.

Other golfers you must watch are Brooks Koepka, Talor Gooch, and Harrison Crowe.
