Genesis Invitational 2026, hosted by Tiger Woods, is scheduled to take place from 19–22 February 2026. This edition celebrates the tournament’s 100th anniversary. The tournament’s history dates back to 1926, when it was first played as the Los Angeles Open. Over the years, it has been held at several courses in the LA area, but since 1973, the Riviera Country Club has been its permanent home.

The Riviera Country Club at Los Angeles

The Genesis Invitational is traditionally played at The Riviera Country Club, situated on the west side of Los Angeles, just north of Sunset Boulevard. The surrounding area is famous for its Pacific Ocean proximity, scenic hills, mature trees, and high-end homes.

Riviera is often referred to as Hogan’s Alley, due to Ben Hogan’s multiple victories at this course. It has 18 holes, a par-71 long and challenging layout with strategically placed bunkers and narrow fairways.

1. Monday, February 16, 2026 – Collegiate Showcase

  • The entry is not allowed to the public.

  • A special developmental event, Collegiate Showcase, takes place. 

  • This day is reserved exclusively for top collegiate (college-level) golfers. 

2. Tuesday, February 17, 2026 – Practice Rounds

  • Spectators are not allowed on the practice round day.

  • Players use this day to practice on the course and prepare for the tournament. 

3. Wednesday, February 18, 2026 – Pro-Am presented by Bang & Olufsen

  • PGA TOUR professionals play alongside invited amateurs in a Pro-Am format. 

  • This day focuses on hospitality, networking, and sponsor experiences and is not open to general admission.

4. Thursday, February 19, 2026 – Round 1

  • Gates open at 7:00 AM.

Genesis Invitational 2026 Purse 

The purse for the 2026 Golf Genesis Invitational is $20,000,000. 

The winner also receives 700 FedExCup points, which are important for season standings. If a player makes a hole-in-one on the 14th or 16th hole, he can win a Genesis GV80 / GV70 car (the caddie also receives a gift).

Genesis Invitational Golf 2026 features a 72-player field. This is a Signature Event, which is why only top-ranked or highly qualified players receive invitations, and the field size remains limited. 

The tournament uses a special 36-hole cut rule. After two rounds, only the top 50 players and ties, plus anyone within 10 shots of the leader, advance to the weekend rounds.

Players qualify based on specific criteria:

  1. The top 50 players from the FedExCup Points List

  2. Players ranked 51–60 in the FedExCup Fall standings 

  3. The top 30 players in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) who are PGA TOUR members

  4. Swing 5 category — top performers earning the most points from the Sony Open through the WM Phoenix Open

  5. The leading finisher from the Race to Dubai, if not already exempt.

  6. Current-season PGA TOUR winners

  7. Sponsor exemptions, where selected players receive special invitations from the tournament host or sponsors.
