Updated 6 October 2026: Round 1 groupings and tee times are now official for Thursday at Yokohama Country Club. This preview has been refreshed with the confirmed opening-round draw and the latest PGA TOUR course information.
This is the third event of the FedExCup Fall and the PGA TOUR’s only official tournament in Asia. For players outside the season’s top 50, the week can materially affect 2027 playing status and access to early-season Signature Events. For context on how the main season finished, see Druids’ 2026 TOUR Championship recap; for wider tournament coverage, the Druids tournament hub tracks major events across the calendar.
Because play has not started, there is no 2026 winner, leaderboard or live scoring yet. Round 1 groupings have now been released, however, with the confirmed opening-round tee times covered below.

Yokohama Country Club: the course and the test

Yokohama Country Club became the tournament’s home in 2025. The 36-hole club was established in the late 1950s, with its East and West courses originally shaped by Takeo Aiyama and Hideo Takemura. The West Course was modernised by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw in 2014-16 while retaining the rolling landforms, strategic width and classic character of the original routing.
The Baycurrent layout uses 16 holes from the West Course and the 17th and 18th from the East Course. For 2026 it is listed at 7,322 yards and par 71. The latest PGA TOUR tournament preview confirms that the 18th has been lengthened from 475 to 482 yards. The tournament setup also includes fairway-line adjustments, additional rough, new fairway bunkers on Nos. 2 and 15, new tees on Nos. 5, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 18, and significant tree removal to the right of the closing hole. The greens are bentgrass, with korai zoysia fairways and noshiba zoysia rough.
Matt McCarty owns the current 18-hole course record at Yokohama Country Club after shooting 60 in the final round in 2025. That gives the 2026 field a useful scoring benchmark, although wind and setup can materially change how the course plays from day to day.
The design does not reduce course fit to raw distance. The West Course restoration emphasises angles, bunkering, undulating fairways and recovery choices, while last year’s PGA TOUR analysis highlighted the option to challenge narrower landing areas or play more conservatively for position. That makes accurate driving, controlled approach play and a reliable short game sensible skills to value without pretending they guarantee a result.
Readers who want a simple explanation of the scoring system can see Druids guide to stroke play in golf. The Baycurrent Classic is unusual compared with most full-field PGA TOUR events because all 72 players are scheduled to play all four rounds. Druids RBC Heritage 2026 recap offers another recent example of a no-cut event, although its field and FedExCup structure are different.
Baycurrent Classic 2026 field
The 72-player Baycurrent Classic 2026 field is built around available PGA TOUR players, JGTO qualifiers, and sponsor exemptions. Headline names include Xander Schauffele, Hideki Matsuyama, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Adam Scott, Keegan Bradley, Rickie Fowler, Min Woo Lee, Sungjae Im, Sahith Theegala, Max Homa and Nico Echavarria.
The Japanese contingent is substantial, with Matsuyama joined by players including Ryo Hisatsune, Takumi Kanaya, Keita Nakajima, Hiroshi Iwata, Aguri Iwasaki, Yusaku Hosono, Yoshinori Fujimoto, Ren Yonezawa, Kosuke Sunagawa and amateur qualifier Koshin Nagasaki.
Important field update, rechecked 6 October: the PGA TOUR media centre records Tom Kim withdrawing with Kris Ventura moving in; Yuta Sugiura withdrawing with Tomohiro Ishizaka entering; and Austin Smotherman ultimately being replaced by Lee Hodges after A.J. Ewart briefly moved into the field and then withdrew. That is why older field lists published before tournament week may already be stale.
Baycurrent Classic players to watch
|
Player |
Why the angle is relevant |
|---|---|
|
Xander Schauffele |
Defending champion. He won at Yokohama Country Club in 2025 at 19-under 265, finishing one shot ahead of Max Greyserman. He enters the week at world No. 10 with seven top-10 finishes in 2026, and no player has yet successfully defended this tournament title. |
|
Wyndham Clark |
The official tournament site lists him at world No. 5 in September after winning the 2026 U.S. Open and BMW Championship. His current-season form gives him one of the strongest résumés in the field. |
|
Collin Morikawa |
The 2023 event champion returns with seven PGA TOUR wins and two major titles. His precision approach game is a natural point of interest on a course built around angles and positioning. |
|
Hideki Matsuyama |
The 2021 champion and an 11-time PGA TOUR winner carries the strongest home interest. His history in this event makes him more than a ceremonial local favourite. |
|
Justin Thomas |
A 16-time PGA TOUR winner and two-time major champion. He finished runner-up in this event in 2024, giving him proven tournament history even though that edition was played at the previous venue. |
|
Max Greyserman |
Runner-up in both 2024 and 2025. His 2025 second place came at Yokohama Country Club, so he owns the clearest recent course-specific result outside the defending champion. |
|
Takumi Kanaya |
Tied fourth at Yokohama in 2025 after a final-round 62. That result makes him one of the most compelling Japanese challengers in the 2026 field. |
|
Ryo Hisatsune |
Finished T6 in this tournament in 2023 and was runner-up at the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open. He combines local interest with a recent PGA TOUR high finish. |
|
Jordan Spieth |
Returns to compete in Japan for the first time since 2019. He begins the week No. 55 in the FedExCup Fall standings, putting him directly in the race for places in the first two Signature Events of 2027. |
Baycurrent Classic prize money and FedExCup points

The Baycurrent Classic prize money is $8 million, with $1.44 million confirmed for the winner. The champion also receives 500 FedExCup points. As of 6 October, the official tournament sources confirm the total purse and first prize but do not publish a complete 2026 position-by-position payout table, so an older distribution should not be presented as this year’s confirmed breakdown.
The points are especially important in the FedExCup Fall. Players ranked 51st and lower continue to compete for position after the Playoffs. The final top 100 secures full eligibility for the following season, while Nos. 51-60 can earn places in two early 2027 Signature Events through the Aon Next 10. A win can therefore change both status and schedule, not just earnings.
FedExCup Fall winners also receive the normal benefits attached to a full PGA TOUR victory, including a two-year TOUR exemption and entry into events such as THE PLAYERS. Druids’ THE PLAYERS Championship 2026 recap gives more context on the TOUR’s flagship championship.
Baycurrent Classic tee times
Official Round 1 tee times and groupings have now been released for Thursday, 8 October. The opening groups are scheduled from 8:45 a.m. JST, using both the first and 10th tees at Yokohama Country Club.
Among the headline groups, Min Woo Lee, Jordan Spieth and Sungjae Im are scheduled from the 10th tee at 9:18 a.m. JST, while Jacob Bridgeman, Collin Morikawa and defending champion Xander Schauffele follow from the 10th at 9:29 a.m. Wyndham Clark, Justin Thomas and Adam Scott are grouped from the first tee at 10:24 a.m., with Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama and Rickie Fowler following at 10:35 a.m. JST.
Pairings can still change because of withdrawals, replacements or other tournament updates, so check the official PGA TOUR Baycurrent Classic tee-times page for the latest confirmed draw.
Baycurrent Classic leaderboard and live scores
As of 6 October, there is no live Baycurrent Classic leaderboard for 2026 because competitive play begins on Thursday, 8 October. The official PGA TOUR event page will carry live scoring, player scorecards and round-by-round positions once Round 1 starts.
The Baycurrent Classic 2026 winner has therefore not been decided. Xander Schauffele is the defending champion, but any page claiming a 2026 winner or final leaderboard before play is complete should be treated as incorrect.
Baycurrent Classic history and recent winners
The event began in 2019 as the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP, Japan’s first official PGA TOUR tournament. Tiger Woods won the inaugural edition for his record-tying 82nd PGA TOUR victory. Baycurrent became title sponsor from 2025, LEXUS joined as presenting sponsor, and the tournament moved to Yokohama Country Club.

The venue change matters when comparing those totals: only the 2025 result was recorded at Yokohama Country Club, so earlier winning scores are tournament history rather than direct course benchmarks.
Baycurrent Classic 2026 preview
The Baycurrent Classic 2026 preview starts with a useful tension: the field has enough major champions and established PGA TOUR winners to make the top end strong, but the FedExCup Fall also gives players further down the standings a reason to attack every place on the leaderboard.
Schauffele has the clearest current-course proof because he won here last year, while Greyserman was only one shot behind. Morikawa, Matsuyama and Thomas bring event-winning or runner-up history, and Clark arrives with the strongest 2026 headline results among the leading names announced by the tournament.
The Japanese challenge is deeper than Matsuyama alone. Kanaya’s T4 at Yokohama in 2025 is directly relevant; Hisatsune has a PGA TOUR runner-up this season, and Nakajima is among the home players capable of turning the limited field and no-cut format into four meaningful rounds.
Course management should stay central. Yokohama’s rolling terrain and strategic restoration create decisions from the tee and into the greens, while the altered 18th gives players a slightly different finish from 2025. In a no-cut tournament, one poor early round does not end the week, but four-round scoring still rewards players who avoid large mistakes and keep generating quality approach chances.
